Abstract:

Statistical data shows that epilepsy patients in China account for about one-fifth of global epilepsy patients, and they are increasing year by year, which brings a heavy burden to patients, families, and social healthcare systems. In recent years, although significant progress has been made in drug and surgical treatment of epilepsy, the unpredictability of seizures still makes it difficult for patients to participate in daily activities. Therefore, it is important to diagnose, treat and manage epilepsy patients. In recent years, wearable devices have increasingly become a common tool for counting and managing seizures. This article reviews the application of wearable devices in the diagnosis and treatment management of epilepsy patients and finds that, wearable devices can improve the risk prediction ability of epilepsy patients, diagnose different types of seizures, and strengthen the health management of epilepsy patients. However, there are still many challenges in clinical application, such as the safety and privacy of wearable devices, databases and algorithms, and acceptance level, which need to be urgently addressed.
